Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of service in the community by volunteering.
This MLK Day, we have two volunteer events happening in King County Parks, and we hope to see you there.
Volunteers are an integral part of our parks, trails and open spaces, helping maintain our stream corridors, forests and wetlands by planting native trees, removing invasive weeds and improving wildlife habitat and water quality. It’s a fun way to get involved in the outdoors and to benefit your local community spaces.
Families and groups are all welcome to participate. We hope to see you there!

Backcountry trail work parties with WTA
Give back to those trails you love. Join King County Parks and Washington Trails Association this winter to rebuild and repair backcountry trails. Learn to retread a trail, build a turnpike or solve drainage problems.
Volunteer events are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., and require hiking to the site. Events are limited to 20 people and typically are six to 12 volunteers in size. Contact www.wta.org or call 206-965-8561.

Native plant holding facility
Groups are needed to care for salvaged native trees and shrubs at our holding facility near Sammamish. To schedule a group work party, please contact Cindy Young.
Adopt-a-Park or Trail and Park Ambassador programs
These programs provide opportunities for groups or individuals to help maintain King County’s 180 parks, 175 miles of regional trails, and 130 miles of backcountry trails. For more information please contact Laurie Clinton, volunteer program manager.
